Within Alan’s first season with the Gunners he went on to lift the League Cup of 1987. He scored in Arsenal's 2-0 victory at Anfield in May 1989 – which saw them lift that season's league championship. He then won another league title in 1991 as well as a League and FA Cup Double two years later.

Alan struck the sole goal in Arsenal's 1994 European Cup Winners' Cup Final victory against Parma.

He was Arsenal's top scorer for four consecutive seasons, and the First Division top scorer of the 1988–89 season with 23 goals, going on to win another Golden Boot in 1991.

Capped by England he is ranked among Arsenal’s all-time, top-15 goal scorers.

Ray Parlour

339 appearances, 32 goals between 1992 and 2004

Ray Joined as a trainee and spent 14 years with Arsenal and was fondly dubbed “The Romford Pele” by The Gunners fans.

He won a Cup Winners’ Cup runner-up medal in 1995 and blossomed following the arrival of Arsene Wenger the following year, being part of The Double-winning teams of the ’97 to ’98 and ’01 to ’02 seasons. In the 2002 FA Cup Final he famously scored a 30-yard screamer against Chelsea.

His trophy tally with Arsenal includes three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one League Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Capped ten times by England, nowadays, he is a TV pundit and regular radio presenter on TalkSport and BBC Radio 5 Live.

Perry Groves

155 appearances, 21 goals between 1986 and 1992

Perry joined Arsenal in September 1986, signing for £50,000 and becoming the first acquisition by new manager George Graham. In his first season at the club he helped set up Charlie Nicholas for the winner in the 1987 League Cup final, dribbling past three Liverpool players before laying the ball off.

Noted for his enthusiasm and hard work, he started most of Arsenal's games in the 1987–88 season partnering Alan Smith.

He made 21 appearances in Arsenal's title-winning 1988–89 season, and helped to create the space when Michael Thomas famously scored the title clinching goal at Anfield in the final game of the season.

Today he is a TV presenter and pundit and can often be heard on Talksport Radio.
